Future Consumer Limited is one of the largest organised Food and Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies in India with a pan-India presence in both manufacturing and distribution. It operates across the value chain, supporting thousands of jobs both directly and indirectly, in sourcing, manufacturing, branding, marketing and distribution.

This investment was made when British International Investment was named CDC Group.

Description of the investment.

In September 2018 CDC made a $31.4 million debt investment into Future Consumer.

Expected impact

Expected impact of investments made between 2012 and 2018. From 2019 onwards, we have published a fuller set of impact information, assessing each investment against six dimensions of impact.

The investment will help FCL to enter into cross-sector partnerships to drive innovation across its supply chains and distribution network in a way that creates commercial value and improves the livelihoods of farmers and underserved rural consumers.

    We provide capital in the following ways: directly – through direct equity, direct debt, guarantees and other non-intermediated financial instruments; and indirectly – principally through investment funds.
