Cathy Echeozo

Cathy Echeozo joined British International Investment’s Debt Investment Committee in 2020 and focusses on Africa transactions.
Cathy is the founder and director of Cathingens, a social intervention and investment company. She is currently the Second Vice President of the Council of The Nigerian Stock Exchange. From 2017 until 2020 she served on the Board of Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers Ltd as an Independent Director.
Cathy retired from her 33-year full time banking career in 2017. From 2011 until 2017 she was Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) where she had also been serving as Executive Director of the Board since 2005. From 2008 until 2017 she was member of the Board of Nigerian Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS). She also served as Chairperson, Emerging Issues Sub-committee on the Committee of Chief Inspectors of all Banks in Nigeria and pioneered GTBank’s entry into personal banking. Prior to GTBank, Cathy worked for Chase Merchant Bank Nigeria (then a subsidiary of Chase Manhattan Bank of the US) and with EcoBank Nigeria Plc.
