Ngalaah Chuphi

External Investment Committee Member

Ngalaah joined British International Investment’s Investment Committee as an external member in 2022, and focusses on direct equity transactions.

He has over 30 years of experience in private equity and infrastructure investing, management consulting and engineering. During his 22 years as a partner of Ethos, a leading South African PE firm, he was involved in deal sourcing, execution, value creation and exit across a variety of investments in multiple geographies in sub-Saharan Africa and was the lead partner on Ethos’s efforts to invest outside South Africa. He was co-lead in raising Ethos Fund V (US $750 million) and the lead in raising Ethos Fund VI (US $800 million).

Prior to joining Ethos, he worked in Project Finance for the International Finance Corporation focussing on infrastructure deals in South America and as a management consultant in the area of strategy development and implementation in SSA and in Europe. Earlier in his career, he worked as an electrical engineer for large global technology companies.

Ngalaah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada and an MBA in Finance from Pepperdine University in the USA.
